About

Hello… My name is Stevie and I am the self-taught artist and maker behind Toadstools and Teacups where all my creations are heavily inspired by fairytales and folklores from around the world.

As an artist, my processes and materials of choice are always changing and rotating. From paint to pencil to clay to cotton, each medium allows me to uniquely choose how to translate the image in my head into something you can hold in your hand. I particularly love working with clay and cotton as I like to watch each piece come to life in it’s own way with its own little eccentricities.

I love using found and repurposed materials. From old lace and spare buttons to pinecones and dried flowers, I love embedding as many pieces as possible within my creations. Not only does it mean my art is more environmentally friendly, but it allows me to weave in history and reality and makes them even richer in detail. A story within a story.

My hope is that my art can bring a sense of whimsy and wonder into the lives of others, by turning the imagined into reality and to give in to the indulgence of childhood fantasy.
